Comparison of a sketchy car sale versus a verified USACarMarket listing

Buying a used car online can be weird.

You find a car you like. The photos look good. The price seems reasonable. But then the questions start.

Is the car actually what the seller says it is? Is the person behind the listing real? Why do I have to pay just to put my own car up for sale?

We think a car marketplace can do better. That's why every vehicle listed on USACarMarket starts with a VIN or license plate, and why private sellers can list and sell without paying us a fee.

Less guessing. More driving.

Buying a used car online shouldn't feel like detective work. We're designing USACarMarket around a simple idea: give buyers more information about what they're looking at, and give legitimate sellers a better place to sell.

01

Verified vehicles

Every listing starts with a VIN or license plate so the vehicle can be verified before publishing.

02

Real sellers

Identity verification helps you know there’s a real person behind the listing.

03

Free means free

$0 to list. $0 when it sells. You keep the money from your car.

The car marketplace with nothing to hide.

Most used-car sites ask you to take a lot on faith. A few photos, a short description, and a price. Maybe a seller rating if you're lucky. We wanted to build something where the basics are confirmed before you ever open a listing.

That means verifying the vehicle before it goes live. It means knowing who's selling — not just seeing a username. And it means being upfront about what this costs: nothing to list, nothing when you sell.

As we bring dealerships onto the platform, that standard doesn't change. Transparency isn't a marketing line for us. It's the architecture.

Cars should be verified.

Selling should be free.

Because “trust me” isn't verification.

Every listing on USACarMarket starts with a VIN or license plate — not because paperwork is fun, but because it's the fastest way to confirm a vehicle is real before anyone wastes a Saturday driving to see it.

We check the car before you check it out. By the time you're comparing trims and mileage, the fundamentals are already in place.

A marketplace where the cars check out.

“The cars check out” works in two directions. The vehicle checks out — verified before it's listed. And when you show up to look at it, you're not starting from zero.

Selling shouldn't cost you, either. Not to list. Not when it sells. We think the money from your car should stay with you — and that knowing a listing is real shouldn't be a premium feature.

So we made both standard.

Verification and free selling aren't perks we bolted onto a traditional marketplace. They're the point of view the whole thing is built around.

Less guessing. More driving. That's what we're building toward — a place where car shopping feels a little less sketchy, and a lot more like it should have been all along.
